It's the early 1960s and we are being visited by a people indistinguishable from ourselves. They have a vastly superior technology but they are not from another planet or from the future. They are our neighbors from a nearby parallel universe, another earth. And they are particularly interested in November 22, 1963, the day President Kennedy is assassinated.

This other earth has a covert Agency that monitors parallel realities. They are policemen trying to prevent reality hopping malcontents from influencing local time lines. Why is that such a big deal? If events in one time line become too similar to that of an adjacent universe then those parallel universes may touch. This has happened before. The singularity point where they touched is called the big bang. In other words the end of existence in two universes were it to happen again.

Should Kennedy live or should he die? If he lives, how will his continued influence threaten the safety of the local universe?

This is what concerns the Agency. Unfortunately they're opposed by another group from their own universe called Religionists. Their twisted philosophy demands the destruction of all but their own reality.

Unbeknownst to all, Martians from a viable Mars in yet another universe monitor all of this. They are opposed by a mysterious splinter group of Martians called the Others with unknown intentions.

What does this conflict mean to our earth and our people? Are we on the path to the end of existence or is there a different destiny that awaits us at the hands of these interlopers?

The Kennedy Effect edition by Michael J Foy Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks

This is an exceptional book. From the very beginning the reader is left asking questions, wondering how everything ties together. Spanning decades, The Kennedy Effect brings in so much information from actual history and Mr. Foy's imagination that, if one does not read carefully, one can become overwhelmed by the complexity of it all. It is worthwhile, however, to soldier on because each chapter weaves the story tighter and tighter until, by the end, everything that you have read has served to advance the story, despite the disjointed nature of the book. The way this is done is nothing short of brilliant.

Lovers of hard science fiction will find much to enjoy about this book. American political history buffs will also revel in the detail Mr. Foy has brought to that aspect of the story. In fact, he weaves historical fact into his story so flawlessly that if one does not know the actual history, one will be left wondering where fact leaves off and fiction begins.

A worthwhile read that easily earns five stars.

The Kennedy Effect edition by Michael J Foy Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

as with tv shows (LOST) and books that use parallel universes no one compares to the way Star trek does it. Earth alternate universes, Mars alternate universes, characters moving in and out of these universes. Did not find the book intersting despite the JFK connection.
If this story qualifies as Alternate History then what the heck have I been reading all these years? It's science fiction, no doubt of that, but alternate history? Not even close. I liked most of it, but the overpowering political nonsense of the author builds slowly, advances slowly, and finishes like the last minute of a July 4th fireworks display. I'm no fan of the right wing party in congress.... but this book was written entirely and only to finish in a bizzare, outrageous and over the top attack on not only a political party but many of the best known leaders of said party as well. OK, that's the authors privilege. But the book ought to carry a warning label that not only is it NOT alternate history, it IS an non-adult political fantasy. It does ring a bell though. It reminds me of Phillip K Dick's work when he was at his ah, best. Gave it 2 stars and perhaps it deserves 3, but certainly no more than that.
The book is a very well researched and entertaining journey through an alternate history that left me with many of those "Hmmm..." moments. I found it to be a tightly woven science fiction tale with broad appeal through its many historical and modern day references. I particularly enjoyed the book's very strong and thought provoking "point of view" on politics and religion. I would recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys a good "what if...?".
Anybody who enjoys Kennedy Conspiracy theories and the TV show Mad Men will be entertained by this science fiction story. There is an alternate reality where JFK never became president. Instead he's a spy, but not in any cold war. He's spying on us in our reality in some kind of interdimensional struggle to preserve existence. The physics is well explained in layman's terms and definitely adds a sense of impending doom for the characters in harms way -- all of us!
I absolutely love this book!!! Fasten your seatbelt! This book is a unique mix of politics, history and sci fi that keeps you on the edge of your seat for each twist and turn of the plot. This book will stretch your imagination as you ponder the possibility of JFK himself in a parallel universe to ours traveling in time to try to save his universe and as well as ours. Mr. Foy sprinkles in many interesting nuggets of detail that will be familiar to people living in the Boston area, including some that will make you chuckle. This book is the perfect stocking stuffer for all of the sci fi fans on your gift list. Also, if you like this book, a wonderful read is Foy's previous novel "Future Perfect" written in a similar genre.
While it was a unique take on the relationship of historical events, including Kennedy and Jesus Christ, to the concept of alternative universes, it became unncessarily convuluted and did not seem to have an overarching theme that brought the various sub-themes together satisfactorily. Up until the very end, I kept asking myself - where is the author taking me and for what purpose?

Otherwise it's a very interesting set of stories that can make one bonder the bigger question of why things unfold in the way that they do.
I'm a huge fan of Science Fiction, and I particularly love alternate history, time travel, and parallel timeline stories...going back to reading Larry Niven back in the '70s. Over the years, I have read literally hundreds of Sci Fi novels. The Kennedy Effect was my vacation reading this year, and I truly enjoyed it. Michael J. Foy manages to bring all three areas together in one book, and even tosses in aliens (you didn't hear that from me, though), and the occasional Star Trek reference. In fact, our intrepid hero in this book actually reminds me a bit of Gary Seven! This was an enjoyable read . . . my only criticism is that I didn't want the story to end so soon! I was reminded of the works of Niven, Turtledove, Taylor Anderson, and Greg Cox as I read this book; excellent authors, all! I highly recommend The Kennedy effect!
